| GIRONA CYCLING TOUR girona cycling tour
bike tour |
| Having lived in this Spanish
town for six years while with the US Postal Team, Marty has a love for
Girona, something he is only too willing to share with guests on this
"Signature Tour." |
|
 |
Nestled in the northeast corner
of Spain near the Mediterranean Coast, known as the Costa Brava, Girona
offers year-round beauty, not to mention miles and miles of some of the
world's finest riding. Why else would so many professional cyclists,
including the majority of Americans racing in the pro peleton, call
Girona home? Without a doubt Girona is one of Spain's most beautiful
towns, with access to virtually everything Europe is known for: the
finest culinary experiences, the special quaintness unique to the Old
World, friendly and welcoming locals and, again, world-class cycling
for all abilities and interests. All of this is just a few kilometers
from the crystal clear waters of the Mediterranean. |
|
| The trip begins with rides in
and around Girona, taking in its nearby countryside and passing field
after glorious field of vibrant herbs and magnificently restored
farmhouses. We'll climb the nearby Els Angels or San Grau, mountains on
which the local professionals test themselves. Next, we'll head to the
coast where there are typically more cyclists than cars. The roads
along the Costa Brava flow like ribbon next to the sensuous beaches.
We'll then ride towards the Pyrenees, where we'll pass through small
villages and peaceful landscapes of Catalunya. Finally, we'll ride back
to Girona through beautiful hills, valleys and mountains for our final
evening together. |
| This tour offers incredibly
diverse rides with spectacular scenery and cuisine. And, like the
Catalans, we'll eat very well, savor the region's finest restaurants,
and sample our share of the area's wine of choice, Rioja |
| Join us - We look forward
to sharing our knowledge of Girona with you. |

WHAT
LEVEL
RIDER DO I NEED TO BE?
Our tours are
great for those that love to ride their bikes. There are gentle climbs
and we have mapped out routes of 40-60+ miles per day. |
| |
WHERE
ARE
WE STAYING?
On this trip, we
start and finish in the heart of Girona. We also spend several days on
the Mediterranean Sea. Our select hotels are chosen for their quality,
comfort and access to our ride routes. |
| |
WHAT
IF
I RIDE BUT MY COMPANION DOESN'T?
There is plenty
to do besides ride. Fantastic trail hiking, running in Girona and along
the coast is possible. There are also great museums, ruins, churches,
art, and culture. Barcelona is only a 1 hour train ride away. |
